About Me
My name is Sara Hassan. I'm a teacher and also work with the TIGed program at TakingITGlobal. I joined the team in 2011, and have worked across a variety of environmental (www.deforestaction.org) and global education programs (www.tiged.org). Since 2012, I have also been working to support educators worldwide to further integrate student voice in education (www.tigurl.org/ecourses) and have been lucky to learn from aspiring social innovators by facilitating the Sprout eCourse (www.sproutecourse.org) and the Sprout Ideas Camps in 2014 (www.sprout.tigweb.org/camp).
A little about me:
My family is from Pakistan but immigrated to Canada in the early 1980s. I love school and keep going back! I have a BA from York University in International Development Studies and an MA from McMaster University in Globalization Studies with a focus on global citizenship education. More recently, I completed my B.Ed from the University of Toronto, qualifying in Primary/Junior and Aboriginal education.
I have a bit of a travel bug. I lived in Switzerland during my last few years of high school and have spent a few years working on international development projects in Guyana (youth development and capacity-building), Honduras (HIV/AIDS education) and Tanzania (early childhood development and youth employment).
I look forward to getting to know you all!
